Did you know that amber is not a gemstone? It's a fossilized tree resin that dates back millions of years, often from ancient pine trees. Some amber pieces are over 100 million years old! Due to amber's ability to preserve life forms like insects and plants, today we get to see and study prehistoric elements that got trapped in amber for millennia.
Koi symbolizes good fortune, courage, ambition, strength of purpose and perseverance. The legend has it that if Koi manages to successfully climb up the waterfalls of the Yellow River, and cross the point called Dragon Gate, it will transform into a Dragon.
In Baltic mythology, amber is tied to a tragic love story... According to the legend, the sea goddess Jurate lived in a stunning amber palace beneath the Baltic Sea. She fell in love with Kastytis, a mortal fisherman, which was strictly forbidden. When Perkunas, the thunder god, discovered their love, he was furious and destroyed Jurate’s amber palace with lightning. These shattered pieces of amber are said to have washed ashore, which is why amber is found along the Baltic coast.
